Our teaching methods
Our teaching methods
We offer excellent quality tuition on the basis of our experience. We understand the importance of choosing the right course, therefore we use an accurate and suitable assessment-test before you start a course in accordance with an acknowledged system, the European Reference Frame.
We use weekly tests to establish progress and when necessary to highlight areas of weakness. After each course level students sit a final test. At the end of the course the students get a certificate with the final test results.
We are of the opinion that the German language consists of more than just vocabulary and grammar. Our balanced mixture between conversation, listening comprehension, grammar, writing and reading on the one hand and communicative games, films and German newspapers on the other hand guarantee effective learning in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Motivation through committed teachers
In our international classes we only speak German. Our experienced and motivated teachers (many of whom have been working with us for many years) ensure everyone speaks in the classes. During group work and dialogue exercises everyone gets a chance to speak.
Homework and learning techniques
From level A2 we include text reproductions to train listening comprehension and free/creative writing. Homework is also an important part and learning techniques are always an important topic in the lessons. German is also spoken during the breaks. While having tea or coffee there is time to get to know your classmates and everything just learned in the lesson can be practised immediately.
Our experience has shown there to be many very important factors when learning a foreign language. Therefore we combine various methods to cater for the different types of learners. We combine communicative teaching models with the respective grammar (German is a very systematic language and therefore not as difficult as many believe) – Structures are important to speak well and correctly.
Course levels and placement
We have lessons all-the-year at 6 different levels. You can start each Monday, if you learned German before and have previous knowledge. For absolute beginners we have got fixed starting dates.
We are geared to an acknowledged system, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages by the Council of Europe. This official pattern enables to find out where you stand in the language and how long it will take, to reach a certain level.
It is distinguished between:
- A1 and A2: elementary language use
- B1 and B2: independent language use
- C1: competent language use
Every course level can be completed in about 8 weeks!
With the Common European Framework you can find out your actial level of a langauge. If you start as a beginner it will take approximately 10-12 months Intensive course to reach the leven C1 (advanced).
